PROJECT BUILD

40" Tires & Beadlocks

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT on Dirty Life Canyon

Overview

Installation of 40-inch Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT tires on Dirty Life Canyon beadlock wheels. Regeared axles with Yukon 4.88s for proper torque and crawlability. Transformed the rig in snow and rocks.

Materials Used

Estimated Time

Approximately 4-6 hours (including regear if not pre-done, mounting, balancing, and installation).

Installation Steps

01

Prepare Wheels and Tires

Mount the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT tires onto the Dirty Life Canyon beadlock wheels. Use the correct torque sequence for the beadlock rings. Balance the assemblies.

02

Regear Axles (if not already done)

Install the Yukon 4.88 ring and pinion sets in the Dana 30/44 axles. This ensures proper gearing for the larger 40" tires.

03

Remove Old Wheels and Tires

Jack up the vehicle, support with stands, remove the old 37" wheels. Clean the hubs and inspect brake components.

04

Install New Beadlock Wheels

Mount the new 40" assemblies onto the hubs with 3/8" spacers if needed. Torque lug nuts to spec in a star pattern. Reinstall the spare if applicable.

05

Test Fit, Balance Check, and Road Test

Lower the vehicle, check for rubbing at full articulation. Re-check torque after a short drive. Verify no vibrations and proper clearance.

Results

The rig now rolls on aggressive 40" Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT tires on strong Dirty Life beadlocks, with proper regearing for the larger diameter. Transformed capability in snow, rocks, and trails.
