PROJECT BUILD

Recovery Points & Gear

Rated points + Bubba Rope + the kit that actually rides along

Overview

Proper recovery points front and rear + the actual kit I carry. Bubba Rope kinetic, soft shackles, a tree saver, and a winch extension — the stuff that comes out of the tub when something is stuck.

Tools Needed

Materials Used

Estimated Time

Approximately 3-6 hours (installing points + organizing the full kit in the rig).

Installation Steps

01

Install Front Recovery Points

Mount rated recovery points to the front bumper (Barnes cradle has good attachment points). Torque to spec. Add a second point on the frame if running a winch bumper without integrated tabs.

02

Install Rear Recovery Points

Weld or bolt heavy recovery tabs to the rear bumper / frame horns. Make sure they are rated for the kinetic loads you'll pull.

03

Assemble the Kinetic Rope & Shackles

Attach soft shackles and tree saver to the Bubba Rope. Coil it neatly and store in an easy-reach bag behind the seat or in the tailgate area.

04

Stage the Rest of the Kit

Keep the winch extension, gloves, and tree saver with the rope so the whole kit comes out of one bag. Easy reach behind the seat or in the tailgate — not buried under camping gear.

05

Test & Document the Kit

Do a practice self-recovery or buddy pull in a safe spot. Make sure every piece is accessible in under 60 seconds when you're stuck. Take photos of the full organized kit for the next time you forget where you put the tree saver.

Results

Now when (not if) I get high-centered or buried, I have rated points front and rear and the actual tools that work instead of the Instagram recovery kit that stays in the garage.
